Location: Orlando, FL, USA

Description: R & B, inspirational, heart felt, emotional, melodic, harmonic

Biography: Katrise (aka Double A) is an Orlando based songwriter who also produces her own songs. With 12 years of recording and production experience, she has collaborated with a wide array of writers and artists. Double A is most influenced by R & B and grew up listening to artists such as Stevie Wonder, Earth, Wind, & Fire, Natalie Cole, Lauryn Hill, Tony Toni Tone, and The Temptations. Nevertheless, her primary influence has not stopped her from challenging herself with other genres from Reggae to Rock. She calls herself an, “all around producer/songwriter.”

One of her most notable collaborations are with locally known Kendra Legare and B Rob. Alongside Kendra, she co-wrote lyrics, performed, recorded, and mixed “Keep it Light,” which won 13th place overall in Broadjam’s Six Pack Contest under the ‘What Does it Say?’ category landing the trio among the top 20 finalists. It won 6th place within the category itself.

Double A has also collaborated with Chicagoland’s Songs 2 Share President, Roberta Annicks on songs such as “uBoy,” “Fly in the Kitchen,” and “Just This Once” all available for license through Songs2Share.com. Both “uBoy” and “Fly in the Kitchen,” contain lyrics written by Annicks, with Katrise providing the musical arrangements, performance, and production on the tracks. “Just This Once,” lyrics by both Annicks and Schroeter, was also arranged, produced, and performed by Katrise. The Double A remix has proven to be quite a hit with her Facebook audience. Some of them have even attached the song to their profiles.

Other notable projects include her co-writing with Boston based writer Shawn Lopes on tracks such as “Half Step/Whole Step,” “Good Girls,” and “When I See You,” all Artistopia chart toppers in the R & B category. Furthermore, Double A composed, arranged, and produced the entire musical soundtrack for popular Purdue University news magazine show, “The Fast Track” while working on her BA degree in West Lafayette, IN. The show had quite a following on the local level with some 35,000+ student viewers. Others outside of the campus community in surrounding areas of Lafayette could view the show as well through the local news station WLFI channel 18.

With a plethora of collaborations under her belt and years of recording and producing experience, Double A is ready to take her music to the next level. She has and will continue to submit songs to music licensing companies for inclusion on television, film, and other forms of media. With so many Indies and majors trying to make it, her goal is to create a need for her “music vision.” She aspires to be the go-to source for all things music. Further down the line, Double A will reach out to major record labels, pitching songs to artists and/or apply for work as a staff writer.

Although the music industry is one of the toughest industries ever to get into, especially for writers and producers, this long time producer/songwriter will not give up. She loves music too much to quit. This multi-faceted, ever harmonic, unquestionably talented writer will soon find her permanent place in this business. She says to all creatively inclined people out there to, “Embrace the music vision!”

Description: Butterfly cocoons live in her throat and each time she sings they burst from their shells, fully formed to tickle the air with wings made of melody.

Biography:
Ruby Collins has slowly built a devout grassroot following. Her songs are about relationships, love, and marriage.

Born in Brooklyn, New York Ruby began singing at the age of three but did not begin singing publicaly until the age of fourteen as the lead singer in her church choir. As Ruby over came her shyness she stepped into the world of talent shows performing at local community and school talent shows throughout the tri-state area. It wasn't until her appearance on televisions "Show Time at The Apollo" that Ruby knew that her musical journey had begun.

In 1993 Ruby's mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. Ruby joined the New York City Police Department as a means to help support the family financially. Distraught by her mothers illness Ruby put her dreams on hold but soon realized that the police department could use for a voice like hers.

After six month of rigorous training Ruby received the opportunity to share a more sweeter and softer side of her, that her colleagues had never seen before. Ruby sang the national anthem for her police academy graduation singing at Madison Square Garden before five thousand attendees receiving her first write up in the local Daily News. It wasn't before long that Ruby became a household name within the New York City Police Department. She sang everywhere from community breakfasts in the back of the station house, to the New York Knicks game and eventually to the Nations Capitol.

In 1995 when the Nations Capitol, in Washington DC came calling looking for a singer to sing the national anthem for the Annual National Police Officer Memorial. After a brief audition in which Ruby sang to the organizer of the program over the phone she was pegged for the job. President Bill Clinton, Mariah Carey, and Tommy Matolla who attended the ceremony that day were not the only ones to experience the sweet voice of Ruby Collins but the event was televised nationally via C-Span and the entire country experienced the amazing voice of the police officer behind the uniform. Ruby's rendition of "Wind Beneath My Wings" recorded by Bette Middler and her amazing rendition of the National Anthem. That day there wasn't a dry eye in the house.

Ruby Collins soon began making appearances on talk shows including the, "Rosie O'Donnel Show," "Oxygen Media", "Positively Black", "Good Day New York" and opened for the Legendary group Blue Magic. In 2000 Ruby released her first gospel album on her independent label Senga Music with Producer Tom McConnell selling over 5000 copies to major chains like Virgin Mega, Tower Records, HMV and local mom's and pop record shops. Billboard Magazine reviewed the album stating "Ruby's forte is smooth jazzy pop/gospel amalgam dazzingly reminiscent of Early Robert Flack."

After 911 Ruby decided to follow her passion and pursue her music career. Ruby went back to school earning a Masters in Education becoming a school teacher. She also taught herself to play piano and guitar, and released "Merry Christmas" a classic acoustic piano Christmas album in 2005.

Inspired by her experiences of being a mother, wife, police officer, and changing her career to follow her passion Ruby developed her songwriting skills and returned to the studio to release her third album "In My Dreams," an eclectic blend of soul, pop, and jazz.

Nobody said the music business is easy but Ruby said she is not about to give up. Ruby has just completed her fourth album and is due to be released in 2008 and it's better than ever.

Biography:
California-born vocalist, composer, and multi-instrumentalist Amelia Ray currently resides in Madrid where she performs original soul rock music solo, and with her band, The Conjugal Experiment. A young music scene veteran, Amelia has been performing in the United States and in Europe for almost 20 years. She appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, was a featured artist for Radio Campus Lille in France, and even performed in Iceland. She has shared the stage with Chuck Rainey, Elliott Randall, Rob Bargad, Maia Sharp and Kenny Aronoff, to name a few. Since her arrival in Spain, she has graced such renowned stages as Sala Clamores and The Bourbon Cafe in Madrid, and the Casa de las Conchas in Salamanca.

Amelia's music is at once rock, jazz, country, gospel, pop, and blues. "Once you realise how closely connected different styles of music are, you can start to play with the boundaries of those styles, and create something new and invigorating. But at the root, I'm always trying to make good, old finger-snapping music that makes you perk up your ears, and move your feet." With influences ranging from Nina Simone, Steely Dan, and Inti-Illimani to Led Zeppelin, Jellyfish and King Crimson, Amelia admits "it's hard to sit still". It isn't just about fun, though. Amelia's groove-heavy tunes often carry important social and political themes. In 2006, her anti-Bush gospel rock tune, "Whos'yerdaddy?" spent several weeks on the American Idol Underground Top 40 charts.

Amelia's songs have been featured in films such as the German documentary Schwarzenberg (2007), and the powerful film about forgiveness, "A Killing in Choctaw" (2004). Her version of "Long Time Ago" was recently included on the Sensory Lullabies: A Tribute to Jellyfish compilation.

2008 brings the release of Amelia's seventh album, titled, "ON", a European tour, and a return to Iceland for a Winter artist's residency.

SOUL ROCK ARTIST AMELIA RAY RELEASES ON, HER SIXTH INDEPENDENT STUDIO ALBUM

July 3, 2008 (MADRID) -- California-born, Madrid-based soul rock vocalist/composer Amelia Ray unveils her first Spanish studio project. The album, entitled, "ON", will feature brand new rock, reggae, pop and gospel compositions, as well as a surprising cover track from Otis Redding.

Recorded and produced exclusively by Ray at her "Out of 3 Sigma Studios" in Madrid, the album is a veritable aural candy store. Each song stands alone as a potential single or as an ideal track for use in TV, film or commercial.

Included are the gospel tune, "Eldoret", based on the violence in Kenya ("This has the trappings of another genocide"), the classic rock cooker, "The Arsonist" (an imagined conversation between a photojournalist and his model, a man who is burning himself alive - inspired by a newspaper photo) and the doo-wop of "Blackberry", a song about the dangers of using your PDA (personal digital assistant) of the same name to cheat on your lover. Also included is a reinterpretation of the Otis Redding ballad, "Cigarettes and Coffee" as an upbeat duet. "I wanted to rock the song out a bit, and make it much more playful - like Tammy and Marvin singing about onions," she says.

Ray released her first self-produced album in 1993. Her 2005 release, "Music for Autistic People" featured Steely Dan recording and touring guitarist Jon Herington. And her 2001 release, "Mr. Gibson Scores Again" (dedicated to Negro Leagues baseball player Josh Gibson) continues to make waves - in February 2008, the hit single "Whos'yerdaddy" made #1 on Neil Young's "Living With War" charts, and is frequently one of the Top Ten songs on Artist Underground.com's Jazz Charts.

"ON" is Ray's sixth independent studio release. Ray played all guitars, some bass, sang lead and backing vocals, and recorded and mixed the project. Invited musicians include Spain-based musicians Mari-José Estivariz (bass), Alejandro Nieva (saxaphone), Jorge Perez (drums), David Starlight (vocals), and French rapper Yoshi. Amelia's compositions have been featured in films such as the German documentary Schwarzenberg (2007), and the powerful film about forgiveness, "A Killing in Choctaw" (2004). Her version of "Long Time Ago" was recently included on the Sensory Lullabies: A Tribute to Jellyfish compilation.

ON will be released on July 18, 2008 simultaneously on iTunes and at CDBaby.com.

ON Tracklist:

1) The Arsonist
2) Heavy
3) Another Corny Love Song
4) To Be the Thing You Forgot
5) Eldoret
7) This House
Caught up in the wonderful weather here in the D.C. area over the weekend, it was difficult to sit down in front of my computer to write about the passing of a music legend. I had just read in the Sunday (August 10th, 2008) Washington Post about an election in Memphis where Isaac Hayes had actively supported Steve Cohen (Caucasian) against another African American candidate. I had not heard of Mr. Hayes passing at this point. The article was timely in that it reminded me of Mr. Hayes talents in areas other than just music (noted below in Feb 15th article).

I was first introduced to Isaac Hayes music as a youngster when the movie "Shaft" came out. Although I was more into bubble bum pop and soul at the time, I vividly remember the song and heard it so many times that I could, and still can, recite it almost note for note.

Most people in the general population primarily knew Isaac Hayes from the "Theme from Shaft." However, Isaac Hayes was an icon within Stax records and the music industry. I am re-publishing a blog with links from February of this year on Mr. Hayes accomplishments. May he rest in peace.

------------------------

From Feb 15, 2008

Isaac Hayes helped create the Memphis Sound at Stax Records and was a major influence in music in the 1960s and 1970s. He began his career at age 5 singing in the church and self taught himself to play musical instruments such as the piano, saxophone, and the organ. He played the Memphis club circuit and about 1964 joined the Mar-Kays on the Stax label. He performed as a house musician composing and performing with such great artists as Otis Redding, Sam & Dave, Johnny Taylor. Hayes recorded several albums under his own name starting in 1967, when he recorded Presenting Isaac Hayes after a wild party at Stax Records. He finally sold commercially with his 1969 album Hot Buttered Soul but it wasn't until the soundtrack from the movie Shaft was recorded in 1971. He was the first African American to win an Academy Award for a "Best Score."

In 1974, Hayes, and his partners, purchased the American Basketball Association and the Memphis Tams. He changed their name to the Memphis Sounds. The team did not do well and had financial problems. It was sold to a Baltimore group who changed the name to the Baltimore Hustlers and then the Baltimore Claws. The team folded in 1975.

Hayes continued to record through the mid 1980s although his records did not do as well as they had in the past. He moved from recording to acting abut in 1995 returned to the studio to record Branded and Raw and Refined. He became part of the Royal family in Ghana under the official name of Nene Katey Ocansey I. Hayes became the voice of "Chef" McElroy in the cartoon Southpark and was later in the movie South Park: Bigger, Longer. Isaac Hayes appeared in the remake of Shaft starring Samuel L. Jackson in 2000. Since then he arranged and performed with Alicia Keyes on her debut Songs in A Minor. in 2006, Hayes left Southpark due to its irreverance toward religion.

Isaac Hayes has teamed up with Samuel L. Jackson for a new motion picture Soul Men. The link below provides more information on the film.

http://www.reuters.com/article/filmNews/idUSN1229431720080213

Download a free e-book from Isaac Hayes Official site "The Way To Happiness." with this link to his web site:

http://www.isaachayes.com/

Sir Soul
http://www.SoulClassics247.com

We are building a brand new Digital CD quality Independent Artists station. We expect it to be on the air no later than tax day (April 15th) 2008 and it could be sooner.

To celebrate the new station, we have developed a completely separate site to showcase the artists. Many , if not all,of the artists from the SoulClassics247.com "Classic Soul Community blog" will move over to this new site. Those that are already existing on the SoulClassics247.com site will stay there as well as be on the new site.

The station will launch from SoulClassics247.com. Details on that later. The reason behind this is the requirements under the royalty license that is held for the operation of these internet stations. Long story. You need a lawyer to understand it. To stay legal, the station will launch from SoulClassics247.com. SoulClassics247.com will be linked from the IndieArtists247.com site. Although we will barely meet the maximum "recommended" three click rule (two preferred) to get around on the internet, it is the best we can do and keep this affordable. I hope you enjoy the new station. Artists and music will be rotated in and out to keep it fresh. More artists will be on the blog page at http://indie.SoulClassics247.net, including those being rotated in and out.

There will also be the opportunity to purchase the CDs and/or downloads of these independent artists. We are working on that now.

So, don't forget, all Independent Artist bios and music pages will move to http://indie.SoulClassics247.net effective immediately for new adds, and over time, for those existing on these pages.

Sir Soul
http://www.SoulClassics247.com

Location: Studio City, CA, USA

Description: A visceral formulation of potent lyrics, seductive vocal tones and piano-pounding passion.

Biography: This Artist's review is published by, established Author and Cheif Editor of GEMM.com -Robert Benson

From his humble Motown upbringing, Michael Paul's musical journey has encompassed all the traditional and untraditional stops, from playing with garage bands in the Northeast, to ultimately heading to California to front the band "Deep Under Green," an angst-filled group that blasted the West coast with full-fledged grunge-rock.

When that medium burned out--fueled by debt and mismanagement, the band members went their separate ways. But, Paul invested in his own recording equipment and has "worn all the hats" for the next two releases as a solo artist-releasing "Repetitive Motion Syndrome" and the EP, "Reach," as Paul found a new vehicle for his emotion-the piano. The EP "Reach" proves that this master balladeer belongs with select company.

"Reach" is a powerful release, punctuated by Paul's expressive voice and world view lyrics played exclusively with piano and voice. The title song is an unparalleled experience of music and sound with brooding lyrics and pounding piano parts. The soulful singing of "Try As I Might" blends perfectly with the astute lyrics and is played with melodic precision. The self-prophecy of "Hollywood Postcard" reveals Paul's inner thoughts and is intensely sung with a bruised, yet tender voice and message.

In July of 2007, Paul released the single "Natural Disaster," which saw it's world premier exclusively on the Internet Radio station www.ilike2rock.net which ran an inventive promotion with clues and tips for the listeners; all ending on 07/07/07 when they played the song once an hour to accommodate different time zones (the song played at 7 p.m.).

Michael Paul's career has come to a perfect full circle and this singer-songwriter is playing all the right notes. Let's hope that his engaging lyrics and intellectually stimulating music never breaks away from the circle as he continues his musical journey.

In Los Angeles, musical artists seem to grow on trees, like oranges. But before you overindulge on this years harvest, consider unclogging your musical arteries with the tastiest produce in the rock alterative grove.

With so much music now inhibited by “bling,” Michael Paul’s songs are liberating in a way that only true artistry in music can be. These songs resonate succinctly and each track is drenched with melodic expressionism.

I often run into small business people at networking events, social functions, and charitable events. Some have never put their business on the internet (i.e- a web site) or are using a franchise site with a URL (web address) three miles Long.

WSI internet Consultant Tom Robinson offers simple solutions for business people, the self employed, and individuals, as well as robust solutions for small to mid sized companies who need help with their web presence. The prices and services below are for small solutions for everyday services that could be done on your own. Due to time constraints, or unfamiliarity with the internet or how it works, you may not want to bother with doing these things yourself. Think of the service, whether large or small, like you would think of the person that cleans your house, takes care of your lawn, or details your car. Whether you are looking for a $2,500 brochure web site or a robust $5,000 plus website for your business.... or just need to have a domain name registered under your name (or business name) and in your own account (Tom can set that up for you), no job is too large or too small. Tom will help you and help your business grow starting with the small stuff that most other consultants would not even bother with.

Below are examples of some of the more common, but not all of, the services that Tom Robinson will assist you with.

Starter Services:

Domain name registration for .com, .net, .biz, .org, .us (including opening an account in your name and registration fees) - $29.00*
*Other types of domains not listed above may require additional fees, please call for more information.

Assistance with setting up an account on Google/Yahoo Local (click on the link below for an example) - $59.00

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=internet+marketing+fairfax&btnG=Google+Search

http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=internet+marketing+fairfax&fr=yfp-t-501&toggle=1&cop=mss&ei=UTF-8

E-mail/Webmail Set-up - $29.00 (per Account, per year with your own domain name).

Blog Set-up - $75.00 (inlcudes one year hosting)

Web Site Hosting - Plans start at $4.95 a month www.DomainHorizon.com

Personalized service and consulting $59.00 per hour

Premium Services:

Customized Business Grade Web Sites perfect for e-commerce (including restaurant ordering online and realty companies) starting as low as $695 for a WSI ASAP (As soon as possible) site and $2,500.00 for a more personalized brochure site.
CORNELIUS MD, HAS BEEN CHOSEN BY THOSE CLOSEST TO THE LATE, GREAT BARRY WHITE TO CONTINUE THE LEGACY OF THE SEXY, SULTRY SOUND OF THE BARITONE VOCALIST

Barry White former management team dedicates new release in Barry’s honor

LOS ANGELES, CA--- Since Barry White's death in 2003, there has been no vocalist able to duplicate the sound of the legendary R&B artist.

Until now...

Domain recording artist, Cornelius MD has been selected by Barry White’s former management team as the vocalist closest to duplicating the legendary artists sound. Cornelius MD possesses a vocal maturity that resembles the unforgettable sound of one of R & B's most romantic singers, the late, great Barry White. Not only is the musical resemblance uncanny but both share the same birth date, September 12th.

There are not many vocalists that can deliver “The Goods” and make you stand up and take notice with one note. Cornelius MD’s sexy, sultry and intoxicating baritone voice does just that while captivating the listener’s mind, body and soul.

History repeats itself with the signing of Cornelius MD by Domain Records, owned by Barry White’s former managers: Tony Sepe, general manager; Bill Sepe, stage manager; and Mike Nunes, son of the late Larry Nunes who discovered Barry White.

Cornelius MD is endorsed by those closest to Barry White as the one to carry on the legacy of the late, great legend.

Tony Sepe -- Barry White’s general manager and songwriter "My First, My Last, My Last, My Everything.

Steve Guillory – musician, songwriter "Staying Power" on the Barry White CD, "Don't Play Games."

Emmitt North, DeLacy White, and Hence Powell—former members of the Love Unlimited Orchestar and now playing with Cornelius MD

Cornelius MD’s new CD, “Step Baby” will ignite the audience with its sensual lyrics and throbbing tempos. The year 2008 marks the fifth year since Barry White’s death and it is fitting that Cornelius MD, chosen by those closest to Barry White, continue the baritone legacy. Sit back, relax and enjoy the smooth, sound of Cornelius MD. You won’t be disappointed as he too is destined for super stardom. For bookings contact: Sheila Weaver 678-548-358 visit our website: www.corneliusmd.com

This site has generally only dealt with music related or historical topics related to the soul community. However, there is just something sick about microwaving your own baby. I do not generally advocate violence except in self defense. I do support the job the troops in Iraq but I was never in favor of the war. But we are there now, so we have to wrap it up. As for this kid, this is unacceptable. A dog would get you more years in prison than this has gotten this father.

I remember as a small kid in Florida, I saw a kid ( I was about 9 or 10) with distorted skin. I asked him what happened. He said his daddy poured boiling water over his arm for disobeying him. Let me tell you that impression has been burned, no pun intended, into my brain for about four decades.

If Sir Soul had his way, the father, whether mentally handicapped or not, would be peeled like an onion with a blow torch and chopped up with a chain saw. His actions were inexcusable. He should at least endure the pain his innocent child has endured for being put in that microwave for 30 seconds.

Don't get me wrong, I, Sir Soul am a liberal dude in many ways but cannot accept the harm done to an innocent child, dog, cat or other creatures. Nor can I stomach injustices inflicted upon my fellow humans across the world.
Description: Soulful, R& B and Hip Hop with a Latin flair

Biography: With a sensual, seductive voice, R&B artist KR Morales explores themes of love and life—all the while creating meaningful and expressive songs. A truly soulful vocal talent, his singing sets an uplifting, unforgettable mood. And, while mixing elements of R&B with Hip-Hop, KR’s songs steer towards up-tempo, fun arrangements. KR’s music is also marked by big sounds with multi-layered robust productions—a testament to the importance he places on creativity both in song writing and in production. He also brings his own unique flair to his music with elements that harken to his Latin roots, whether through instruments or vocally. Part of honoring his Latin roots is the passion that KR brings to each song as, without fail, he sings with his heart and each song resonates with a personal note. One example of how these elements all come together can be heard in “Come Get It,” the lead single off his solo album, “Simple Man.” “Come Get It” is an upbeat dance song that is both sexy and has that element of passion; it also features MSM label-mate Mandy Barry. Likewise, “Pop the Crys”—one that KR wrote himself—is from the same album and includes big sounds, passionate lyrics and Latin guitars. For KR, music is a way of life, and it’s one that he learned from a very early age. Growing up in a tight-knit family, KR found inspiration from both his grandfather’s guitar playing and from his two uncles, who sang and performed various instruments in salsa bands. Outside his family, KR was influenced by the energy on the streets of his hometown, Perth Amboy, NJ. There he mastered hip-hop, even competing at clubs and other locales. In time, he funneled his passion for music into singing. KR was first signed with IRS Records/Exit Records as part of a group called Triad, which recorded and performed dance music. The group was featured numerous times in DMR Magazine and performed at NY L.Q. and the Winter Music Festival Conference in Miami. The group disbanded after the EMI purchase of IRS/Exit Records. Later, he and two other musicians formed a Hip-Hop/R&B group called The Balance Project. This group traveled to a range of venues across the country, including touring with the 2005 Warp Tour, the biggest American independent tour, which travels along the East Coast from North Carolina to New Jersey. As a solo artist, KR is also featured on Hip-Hop artist KBanger’s “Truth be Told” album, on the song “Fluid Enhancement.” Despite his Latin roots, R&B and Hip-Hop resonates with him in a powerful way—partly because it is the music that he grew to love on the streets of New Jersey and partly because, as Latino, he wanted to venture out and try other things. As such, working with The Balance Project and KBanger reignited KR’s love of the music he had such a connection with. So, when the group decided to go their separate ways, he reached out to MSM President Milton Thomas, who had always believed in his talent. For the next year, the “Simple Man” journey began. As part of that, Milton connected him with producer Aaron Bradley, of AaronBeats.com. A virtual music virtuoso, Aaron was able to pull out the soul and emotions that were needed from KR in their studio sessions, as is evident on tracks like “It Seems Like” and “Sex.” Adding diversity to the album, KR also worked with renowned producer Nathaniel Burgess, who is known in the industry as Rick Stylz and has worked internationally with artists such as Aaliyah, Silk and Tom Joyner.

Description: Pie Boys Flat has sound all together original - a unique island groove comprised of reggae, funk, soul, and 3-part harmony with a fresh blend of percussion and guitars. Their writing shows influences ranging from Sublime to Bob Marley to Jack Johnson

Biography: Pie Boys Flat hit the NYC music scene in 2003 with their unique blend of Reggae, Blues, and Funk. Their writing shows influences ranging from Bob Marley to Jack Johnson to Sublime to Paul Simon and has melded into a form of ethnic Rhythm and Blues that sits firmly in the pocket of a style all its own. Laced with soaring three-part harmonies, their music is the manifestation of a many year friendship and collective musical intuition. Patrick Hambrick (Guitar/Vocals), Fitz Harris (Percussion/Vocals), and Jason Liles (Bass/Vocals) met in the late 1990’s at Shenandoah Conservatory in Virginia, where the trio formed a bond that is now apparent in both their writing and performing.

Pie Boys Flat started out playing arrangements of their 5-hour cover-tune repertoire on the subway platforms of NYC. They have gone on to book regular dates at Mo Pitkens, CBs Gallery, The Bitter End, The Cutting Room, Suite 16, Lounge 32, Tailors Hall, Gibneys, The Pig ‘n’ Whistle, and build a dedicated following throughout the five boroughs. In addition, PBF has been hired for reoccurring, guest-artist appearances at venues up and down the east coast including their alma mater, Shenandoah Conservatory.

In 2004, Pie Boys Flat was commissioned by Globe Entertainment for a four-month tour through the Greek Isles with an extended stay on the isle of Kos. Playing 3 hours a night, 7 nights a week for the full duration of their tour, PBF sold over 800 copies of their first LP, Come Taste the Pie, to tourists from all over Western Europe, Scandinavia, Australia, and many Middle-Eastern countries.

Upon their return to the states, PBF once again teamed up with their friend and Grammy-nominated producer, Tommy Faragher, to produce their second LP, Post No Bills. Through NYC club/internet promotion, the all-original, twelve-song CD sold by the hundreds across the U.S. and Europe.

In 2005, PBF joined NACA and launched their first college/club tour of the eastern United States, taking them as far north as Canandaigua, NY and as far south as Laurinburg, NC. Over the course of their 4 ½ months on the road, the Pie Boys found two weeks to team up with friend and new producer Sean Moffitt to record their first full-length, full-scale album Uproot The Island. The album was released June 3rd, 2006 at ULYSSES in downtown, Manhattan and is currently on sale at www.pieboysflat.com, CDbaby.com, or at any live PBF show.

With the release of their new album, Pie Boys Flat is gearing up for a very busy and exciting 2006/07. They have once again joined NACA, been selected to showcase live at 3 regional conferences (Mid-Atlantic - Lancaster, PA, Northeast - Marlborough, MA, Mid-America - Peoria, IL) and have already begun booking dates for what is shaping up to be a packed U.S. tour beginning in September 2006.

As always, Pie Boys Flat remains steeped in rootsy, Southern grooves and rich, soaring vocals, so, whether a seasoned veteran or a new-found fan, make sure to catch PBF in 2006/07 because this explosively high-energy trio has only begun to flourish.

Press Release:
Pie Boys Flat to Showcase at Three NACA Conferences

With the release of their new full-length album Uproot the Island, Pie Boys Flat, a Queens based reggae/funk band has been selected to showcase live at three regional conferences of the National Association for Campus Activities (NACA). Fitz Harris (percussion/vocals), Patrick Hambrick (guitar/vocals) and Jason Liles (bass/vocals) of PBF attended their first NACA conferences in 2005, booked a 4-month college tour, and learned the ropes. “We realized the first morning of the first conference that a live showcase means more bookings,” said Patrick, “and because showcases are awarded based on a band’s recorded music, we knew we had to have a higher quality CD.”

PBF was successful with its first two CDs, Come Taste the Pie and Post No Bills, selling over 800 copies of the first during a 2004 3-month tour in the Greek Isles and over 1000 copies of the second at gigs in Manhattan and on the college circuit. “We are proud of both of those CDs and will be eternally grateful to our producer, Tommy Faragher, whose generosity and talent made us sound better than we could afford to sound.” said Fitz, “But we did our first two recordings on a shoestring. Money was always a problem, so during 2005-2006 we saved every cent from our gigs for months and worked other jobs so we could eat and sleep inside, in order to pay for 12 straight days of recording in a bigger studio. Sean Moffitt, a high school friend of mine and now a professional producer, ramped up the value of that investment by giving us a great deal on his time and talents.”

The result is a recording that really showcases the unique sound of this band; a blend of Reggae, Blues, and Funk, laced with soaring three-part harmonies and a fresh blend of percussion and guitars. According to Jason, “It was worth all the work and sacrifice. Each conference gets between 400 and 500 showcase applications for around 40 slots. We were so thrilled to get the first showcase at the Mid-Atlantic Conference that it didn’t occur to us that we would get another. A friend called and told us to login to the Northeast Conference list because we had gotten a showcase there also. When the third one came in from the Mid-America Conference we began to make plans for a big tour. It’s gonna be a great year for us.”

Radio, It has been with us providing news, information, and music since about 1920, when KDKA first went on the air and broadcast the Harding-Cox election. They heyday of radio was back in the late 1930s and 1940s when huge castle like studios were built and the biggest stars were on radio. Then along came television. Everybody thought radio was dead. It almost was but then reincarnated itself into the top 40 hit radio of the 1960s and beyond. The second heyday of radio was from about 1964 (the Beatles) until the mid 1970s. although radio remained strong into the 1990s. The real problem with radio today is based on a number of factors including, consolidation and automation, and distractions in the radio's domain, the automobile. These distractions were first the 8 track/cassette/CD. The cell phone, books on tape, and finally the 1,000 song i-pod helped eat away at the radio listening base. Consolidation, super tight playlists, and generic programming certainly didn't help either. Radio listening has been declining for years. I do not think it will die, but I do think it will re-invent itself as a form of streaming digital media. I would not be surprised if radio broadcasters do not provide IPTV (Internet Protocal Television), audio streaming like that which is discussed in the Washington Post link below, and of course a channel with traditional radio, albeit semi or totally automated. I am certain that the number of traditional music stations will decline in the near future. Much of the talk and news on AM will move to FM and AM stations will become community or ethnic stations (More so than they are today). The sub channels on the FM (digital HD) would likely offer some of the services mentioned above and in the linked article.

The Washington Post

Sir Soul
Http://www.SoulClassics247.com

Description: Talented Singer Songwriter Big Hands Colvin's musical style is difficult to define, a little bit blues, a little bit country, a little bit soul.

Biography: Like Marc Cohn, Lyle Lovett and Bonnie Raitt, Big Hands Colvin's musical style is difficult to define, a little bit blues, a little bit country, a little bit soul. Whether he's songwriting, singing, playing sax or guitar. Big Hands is a big talent. Now available on CD Baby & Broadjam www.cdbaby.com/cd/danbighands www.danbighandscolvin.com/index.php

Press Release:
Overnight Low is the album, Zoe Montana, of Radio IO Acoustic listed as one of her "essentials" and called a "beauty start to finish..." This much anticipated follow-up to Big Hands Colvin's 2005 "Real Strong Stuff" hits consistent highs with more blues, rock and folk originals. The CD opens with the title track, a contemporary blues tune that has Colvin singing about the time he "rode his thumb" across country, where "You've gotta get high to survive the overnight low." The horn section shines here, but the story is the thing and Colvin tells it masterfully. Autobiographical songs carry the listener along, including the inspired "Destiny" and the darker, jazz-influenced, "Still Ready", where Colvin remembers driving his father home from the local bars as a child. Ultimately though, it's tracks 7 and 8 that might show Big Hands at his best. "Heaven" features Colvin's smoky vocals, and some of the record's heaviest lyrics, and "Diamonds in the Sand" moves like a modern spiritual, riding Colvin's voice and the incredible fiddle of guest artist, Julie Beaver. Colvin has been on the road too long for overnight success, but with Overnight Low he continues to establish himself as one of the more interesting independent singer-songwriters around. --Johnny "Michigan" Morris.

Whatever it is that Opal Candy is doing, all of their fans and listeners agree that it is honest, exciting and "rockin'" Their self-titled debut is Opal Candy's first full length offering. This 11 song effort is the manifestation of a wide range of life experiences, musical influences, and above all, a pure "love of the game" of making music. From the opening energy of "Fluid", to the dark and ethereal "Stone", this CD is pure heart and emotion. Take a taste of the Candy and listen for yourself!

Press Release:
Is it getting hot in here? Farita’s pop/R&B debut EP “Karma” will turn up the heat anywhere and turn-heads everywhere!

These unique Indian-infused party tracks will have listeners uncontrollably grooving to the beats before they ever knew what hit them! “Get Up Now” introduces a tasty Latin flavor, and radiates the splendor of Farita’s elegant and enticing vocals. “Jump” shows more of an R&B influence, and accurately warns listeners that they will become “slaves to the groove”.

Moreover, the production of this CD is simply phenomenal. Hypnotic and addictive, “Karma” is an absolute must-have for lovers of party, pop, R&B, and the sounds of Shakira and Beyonce! - Xavier P. for RadioIndy
