| Biography: Sharp Records is a not for profit music organization aimed at giving students aged 11-18, practical experience of every area of the music business, from A+R and Marketing through to Performance and Music Production. The aim of Sharp Records is to demystify the music business and encourage students to view a career in the music business as a serious option available to them. Sharp Records was formed late 2007, by a team of comprehensive media students. the project was designed to give them a practical experience of how the music industry works. The project has exceeded all expectations. Within 2 months, 6 students had recorded tracks with experienced award winning producer, Jordan Milnes, and released them worldwide on itunes, napster, amazon and e-music. They have since appeared in local and national media and have garnered a celebrity status in their local area. The record label is non profit making and all the funds go into providing further provision for the artists and associate students. | Press Release: Announcing the launch of Sharp Records. The UK’s only student led Record Label. The UK’s only student led record label launched earlier this month to great fanfare. The innovative project has been showcased on ITV News, Trent FM, Radio Nottingham, and The Nottingham Evening Post. The tracks have been produced by billboard award winning producer Jordan Milnes and will be released worldwide in late 2007. The label is gathering interest from London music publicists and looks to be launched nationwide by the end of the year. Sharp Records is a youth music project set up at William Sharp School. It is a fully functioning record label, which promotes youth artists in a variety of different genres. The students work with experienced and successful songwriters and producers to record tracks ready for download. The tracks are then promoted online and in the local press media giving the students experience of promoting a single for real. The student performers are managed by a team of media studies students, who will organise all their publicity material and internet promotion. Sharp Records is a not for profit media project. All the profits help maintain the provision for the students. | ||||
